Share, Chat and Hint Today

I really struggled with this tech from the latest TJNL, Faux Dominos....mind you now, I don't do well with little pieces, nor do I handle placement of those pieces well...but I tried. In fact, I cut up so many papers trying to get this tech to work, even I had to LOL! I finally landed up with what I thought were 6 even pieces...but, yep...only 4 matched, and I had to cut down the top 2! Determination set in then, and we do have a result!

If anyone out there has an easy solution to this tech, please email me at: www.Iwork4stamps@aol.com , thanks muchly. If not....well I tried it!

In retrospect I would say that a simpler stamp, this one is Paperbag Studios, would have been better. The stamp is busy, then I put all the "stuff" on it, bla bla bla....but I thought I'd share and chat about challenges today. This card seems to have a lot of them!

I've noticed that Tim's new embossing folders are really strong, made to go thru heavy stuff (he wanted them that way)...but some papers just fall apart when using them. The bg paper I used here is from Basic Grey, good quality and strong, and yet when it went thru my Big Shot, it became really thin and tore in several places. So I experimented a bit and found out that here comes the HINT....if you put a piece of copy paper, tissue paper, or paper towel thru on top of your bg paper, it will not destroy your papers! In fact, whatever you run thru the machine with your bg paper is usable!

OK, I think I chatted enuf! Thanks for stoppin' by, hugz

You did a great job on this and great tip on the TH dies, although I don't have any yet.

I think it turned out quite lovely. Collage images work great for this technique.

thanks for the little hint, I'll try and remember it!

I can almost picture you trying to get this to work, I might end up the same way and perhaps that's why I haven't tried this one yet ;-)

I like your faux domino card!!! I also really appreciate the tip about tim's folders. I bought 2 sets but haven't used them yet. At least now, I won't be frustrated as I ruin my pretty papers!! LOL

I love your Collage. I think your faux dominoes turned out great. These almost remind me of the Spotlight Technique where you try to match up all lines and have them come out all even, sometimes a bit of a challenge. Thanks for your hint on Tim's....

Oh Gerrie, this came out beautifully!!! I'd never have known you struggled with it. :) That embossed background actually adds to the shabby chic-ness of the whole look. Thanks for the tip about Tim's textures, though - I have a few but haven't put anything in them but kraft paper yet.
