He Never Learned to Read..........

For about 25 years we had the most wonderful Sun Conure, his name was Tequlia. He was the most beautiful, loving little bird you can ever imagine. Never clipped his wings, he flew threw the house and would go where ever he choose. He was very talented.....he could talk, and he could sing Happy Birthday......but he never did learn to read!  Did I tell you he was potted trained!!

This week on the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog, SDC 164,  it's Birds or Animals, I choose the feathered friends.  This actually looks a lot like our bird, he had a long tail tho.   I dug thru my Gelli stash and found this background.  I used the pencil over marker technique on the bird, for effect, color and texture.  Of course I had to purchase this stamp, but unfortunately don't use it enuf.

We lost Teke about 2 years ago, he is always in my heart.  Almost a year ago, we brought in a little wild kitten, but please don't tell Teke, he would be somewhat upset I'm sure.  Hobo doesn't talk much, doesn't sing or fly.....but he too has stolen our hearts......

I like the colors in the background and the bird. I'm sorry to hear about Teke. Kitties can take up places in your heart, too.

Such a wonderful project. I love the background and how you added color and texture to the bird stamp.

Sorry that you lost your bird. I'm always fascinated by conures when I see them in our local pet store. If I wasn't a crazy cat lady, I'd want a parrot.

Thanks for playing along with us this week at Stampotique Designers Challenges!

I was so sure, as I read your post, Gerrie, that I was going to find a photo of Teke or Hobo at the end. Would love to "meet" your family friends. Love your work today, my friend. I find sorting through all those gelli prints can be so inspiring, and this one was just perfect. Love your pencil over marker technique used here. So glad you are here to participate in the Stampotique Designers' Challenge!
